This decorative, early 20th century, antique wall mirror features a quarter sawn oak veneer which has been beautifully butterflied to give a lovely symmetrical aesthetic and a high end appeal with the so-called “tiger stripe” effect.
It’s large size makes it the ideal hallway mirror or would work perfectly as an over-mantle mirror too. With a feeling of the arts and crafts and aesthetic movements, the mirror measures 96 × 73cm and has an attractive, lightly foxed, smokey mirror plate consistent with its age, this is highlighted by the ebonised beading framing the plate.
There are a few age related dinks and a tiny chip to the top left, as seen in the photos, but these honestly don’t affect the overall look, as seen in the photos.
The mirror has been set up to hang portrait using a strong brass chain for ease of installation, but could easily be converted to hang landscape and the design would work equally as well.
