Cecil Aldin - Lithograph on Board - "Mated" - Circa 1900 Antique Print

£250.00

This chess themed print was released by prolific turn of the century artist Cecil Aldin in 1901. Known for his Sports themed illustrations and illustrations of animals. This colourful print is the perfect blend of the two with dogs and cat, not to mention the humorous scenario being played out.

Using the Chromolithography technique of the time, the colours on this print are still vibrant and with the “Tru Vue” Conservation UV Filter Picture Frame Glass this print will stay bright for years to come.

When I found these prints they were still in their original antique frames which unfortunately were crumbling and beyond repair. I have sympathetically chosen a suitable gallery quality bespoke replacement frame which matches it’s sister “bridge” themed print, also available from my site for those who love card games.

I managed to save the bone effect plaques with the names of the pieces which were attached to the original frames.

Not to be confused with the smaller versions of these artwork released a few years later, these full sized prints are sizable and will have an impact the feel of your home, whether in the games room, living room or as wall art for a pub or bar.

Print size: 64 × 41 cm

Frame width: 72 cm
